Train and Bus Schedules
Train and Bus Schedules
Well, we are the Institute of Transportation Studies, so even though this section is not dedicated to general transportation, I think it is appropriate to post some schedules I made here for the Capitol Corridor and Unitrans (mainly since I have no other place to post them). These schedules are for use in a palm pilot or treo. I have been very surprised that the Capitol Corridor has not designed something along these lines. In the future I may try to make some enhancements such as adding a map, and adding the ability to check for updated schedules wirelessly.
Update 3/11/07: It appears that the Capitol Corridor is back on its regular schedule. I talked to the station agent, and he said that it is unlikely that this schedule will change for a very long time. However, as always, send errors to my gmail, mikestrainandbus.
Here are the most relevant links:

Original Trainsched Program (French) By Philippe Marzouk
Modified Trainsched Program (English) By Damien Carberry
Steps to install
1. Download the Trainsched French or Trainsched English program to your desktop and double click to add it to your palm install folder.
2. Download the Capitol Corridor Schedule to your desktop and double click to add it to your palm install folder.
3. Hotsynch you palm
4. Enjoy!
The schedules are designed to be used with the trainsched program or with a modified version. The reason to use the modified version is that it is an english version. Many thanks to Philippe Marzouk and Damien Carbery for maintaining sites on the program. It appears that you must run this program from main memory instead of a card. I will post any of my own modifications here should there be any. Download the actual palm Capitol Corridor schedules here. I have done my best to error check my work, but in case you have any issues or comments send them to my gmail, mikestrainandbus.
Capitols Nov 1st 2006
Here are some notes about the schedule. The schedule includes motorcoach connections. These connect between Colfax and Sacramento, and between Emeryville and San Francisco. Riders must transfer to these motorcoaches at the appropriate station. Also, The motor coaches only discharge passengers at the stops. You may only board the motorcoach at the train stations.
The most popular routes: Sacramento to San Jose, Sacramento to San Francisco, and San Jose to Sacramento work well in the schedule. However, the schedule does not work using a motorcoach connection to or from San Francisco when travelling from or to San Jose. You can just look up the schedule to Emeryville, and then look at the schedule from SF Emeryville to San Francisco seperately. This is likely not a popular route since it parallels BART. Additionally this route is not timed for smooth transfers. There is inevitably someone out there who uses this route though.
Unitrans - Nov 5th 2006
Here are some Unitrans Schedules. These schedules are designed to be used with the program mentioned above. However, since busses are not on rails there is often not a "reverse" route. Hence the reverse button does not work. In fact only the "T" line works with the reverse button. All the stops are listed just like on the schedule which can be found on the unitrans page. Here are some schedules.
A Silo, B MU, C Silo, D Silo, E MU, F MU, G MU, H Silo, J Silo, J Silo Sat, K MU, L Silo, M MU, P MU, P MU Sat, Q MU, Q MU Sat, S Line, T Line, W Silo, W Silo Sat
Or a zip file with all of them.
