Professor Dan Sperling was interviewed on CNN, March 2006
CNN sent the documentary "We Were Warned – Tomorrow’s Oil Crisis" on March 18th and 19th, where Pathways Co-director Dan Sperling were interviewed.
Imagine the following scenario: Most of the Mexico Gulf region is hit by a hurricane that totally wipes out the oil refinery capacity and terrorists fly airplanes into Saudi Arabia’s refineries. What will happen to the oil and gasoline prices and our society, if such disasters should occur during one week? One of the experts interviewed in the program is Pathways Co-Director Dan Sperling.
Sperlings key point in the interview is how engine efficiency gains have led the car manufacturers in the US to build bigger and more powerful cars, resulting in stagnated fuel economy for more than 20 years. This is partially a result of the relatively low gasoline prices that we have had in US for many years.
